Well… we are basically having a lot of fun, making things happen, being creative, and kicking major ass this year at Maneater. We are grateful!
We are happy to welcome Yvette Lubinsky to the Maneater Family. She joins us this month as our West Coast DirectorsRep. Yvette has her finger on the pulse of our industry and shares a like-minded vision with us on where the industry stands, and more importantly, where it is headed. We look forward to seeing where all of this like-mindedness will take us and are excited to be teamed with Yvette. Welcome Yvette!
We have a high profile shoot next weekend with a major band and a major brand that we are really excited about. It begins our step into the new media realm and is awesometown! We’ll probably leak out some details next week as we are able. Steven Lippman is set to direct. Those who know him call him Lippy, but we may rename him the Machine.
Beyond all that awesomesauce, we recently shot a video forLiLA and their track “Million Stars”, which is turning out amazing. Director, Lippy Machine did his usual raising of the bar for Cartel Records on this one. The shoot was great and post is gonna be “out of this world” . Nazeli and company over at Sunset Edit are on with Editor Hank Friedmann running the offline/online and vfx are firing on full cylinders with [a little (r&r) productions] from Nashville. We’re calling them “the Nashville Boys” and they have many impressive master plans hatching. The project is being run by Producer Justin Cronkite and we’re happy to welcome Justin and his own special awesomesuace to the Maneater Family as well. He’s really put together a great clip. Here’s a sneak of the thematics, lot’s more goes down in the actual video:
As if that weren’t enough Maneater Magic, we are also enjoying a great post process on our Paul Mitchell / Patron “Charities: What Inspires You?” campaign. In the vein of our newschool bread of multi-platform talent and teaming creative, Director Bradley Scott has stepped in and is running the offline for Director Steven Lippman & Creative Director Christianne Brooks. Bradley is cutting the campaign at Precision Post and having a great time at it. We look forward to sharing the campaign when it goes to air. We estimate that at mid-May. All good things at Maneater and we wish the same to you!
Left to right on set: Jed James (Maneater EP) Steven Lippman (Maneater Director) John Paul Dejoria (Patron/JPMS)
Christianne Brooks (Maneater Creative Director) Nanette Bercu (JPMS VP & Creative Director)
“Giving Back” with Patron Spirits and Paul Mitchell
The Patron Spirits Co. & John Paul Mitchell Systems Charities “Giving Back” shoot was a complete success. We enjoyed good graces from the weather genie and tucked in two outdoor shoot days between rain and Oscar-copters on the Paramount New York Street back lot. We went into the shoot inspired by the many charities being featured in the campaign and came out of it completely taken by the compelling stories of those involved with the charities. The team heads into post excited to tell the stories we captured. There was a lot of emotion and talent on set! We are grateful to be a partner with John Paul Dejoria in his mission to inspire the public to Give Back via this versatile and visceral campaign. The spots will be a continuation of the “What Inspires You?” campaign and will net a :30 second national and 2 web viral spots.
This is not a Maneater clip, yet parts of Maneater hail from Chicago and we give a loving nod to OK Go and their creative prowess. This is what we call creative collaborative genius with just the right dose of trickery. It all starts with a crash fresh out of the meat locker and ends with a bunch of cheering nerds who wear vests like we do. Who could ask for anything more? Watch if you haven’t already seen it on video static: This Too Shall Pass
Anthony Garth just wrapped back-to-back videos for AVJ Records. The label hails from Atlanta/Nashville but brought it all home to Detroit for their artist Bizarre. The two day Detroit shoot nets a video for “Believer” which features Tech N9ne & Nate Walka and a clip for “Detroit’s Finest” that features Kuniva from D12, Seven the General, Royce da 5’9, and Redman. A lot went down in the two-day shoot and we look forward to showing you the results. Major props to “Detroits Finest” film crew, who stood shoulder to shoulder with the crews we work with on the coasts.
We are also in full-court-press for next weeks Paul Mitchell / The Patron Spirits Company shoot and all the pieces are coming together like clockwork. The spot showcases ordinary people who do extraordinary things for the featured charity. Crew, creative, vendors, and talent have all been inspired to put in extra effort and we look to have a great piece on our hands. We are excited for the shoot! Steven Lippman teams with Creative Director Christianne Brooks again on this one.
We have an inspiring spot in the works with Director Steven Lippman. The piece, being made for Paul Mitchell & The Patron Spirits Company, will shoot early March at Paramount and highlight the “Giving Back” mission of these sister companies.
Lippman also delivered a beautiful spot to John Paul Mitchell Systems for the Tea Tree line. We’ve noted the spot in previous posts and wanted to give the update that client will not be releasing until March or April. We’ll have it up as soon as it releases and in the mean time, here’s a sneak peak:
We wished Director Lorenzo De Guia a fond “bon voyage” as he headed East this week to grow Maneater roots in the Big Apple. With Director Anthony Garth based in Detroit Rock City we now reach West to East and cover everything in the middle. We look forward to some out of LA shoots in 2010!
On the project front, Paul Mitchell “Tea Tree” is gearing up for release and looks stunning. Steven Lippman had a strong finish in post this week. Final touches were put on with Colorist Arnold Ramm at Hi-Ground Media and VFX Artist Joe Censoplano at Radium/Reel FX. Headquarters Music put in for the score and the net net is a splendid visual piece that meshes Hawaiian beauty with the Tea Tree line’s organic elegance.
Bradley Scott is in production on a comedy piece for Dick Towel which will feature, Kool Keith, amongst others. We are gonzo excited for this as the creative is shaping up to be jaw-dropping and lots of top talent is getting involved. You can see the shenanigans that inspired the creative at: www.dicktowel.com
So far all good in 2010. We’ll keep you posted as these projects develop and new ones land at Maneater
